The Hallyu or Korean Culture wave has definitely taken the world by storm over the past few years. Young learners and adults alike have become a lot more interested in learning Hanggul because of K-Pop, K-Dramas, and popular Korean cartoons and comics. This has also created a number of expansion opportunities for Korean businesses worldwide, whether it’s in tech like LG or Samsung, or in the arts via big companies such as YG, JYP, and SM Entertainment. Joining the Korean Language Explorer Club is a great opportunity for your kids to dip their toes into learning a new language. Give them the opportunity to learn while having a fun!

Learning Objectives

At the end of the program, our students will be able:

  1. to hold a basic conversation in Korean;
  2. have a grasp of the basic rules of Korean grammar system and pronunciation;
  3. respond to every day basic commands;
  4. Facilitate friendships and social interaction between fellow Korean Language explorers.

  1. Class management phrases (good morning teacher, I have a question, how do you say, what is the meaning of, how do you write, how do you pronounce? Please, thanks, etc)
  2. Simple vowels system
  3. Double vowels system
  4. Consonant system
  5. Korean characters strokes order practice. word formation
  6. Personal introduction (hello, name, age, nationality, study, live at, phone number, spoken language, nice to meet you) Q&A

Instructors

Yoonsik Kim

Yoonsik Kim has 2 Masters Degrees, majoring in Drama (Dongguk University, Korea) and Stage Management (University of Missouri, Kansas City, USA). He has accumulated impressive experience while working as a stage manager for Seoul Arts Center (Korea), Regional Director of Korea Copyright Commission in Manila, Associate Director of Seoul Ballet Theatre in Korea and many other reputable institutions. In 2005 he started his teaching career as a lecturer at the Theatre School of Korean National University of the Arts. Yoonsik enjoyed teaching so much that in 2019 he took a course on Teaching Korean as a Foreign Language and started teaching his native language to Filipinos and foreigners interested in the Korean language and culture.
