There are around 200,000 nursing jobs predicted to open up in Germany by the year 2030. The country provides up to 60% better salary and benefits than other nursing opportunities abroad. The one major catch is that language proficiency is a must to be able to pursue a nursing career in Germany. The Study by Enderun addresses this gap with its German for Nurses language program. The course follows a four-level teaching system, beginning with A1 and A2 in general German and moving onto the nursing German levels B1 and B2. These two later levels encompass more complex structures and communicative competencies in the German language, geared specifically toward everyday working life in a clinic or care facility in German-speaking countries. By the end of the 8-month program, the students will be able to communicate spontaneously and clearly in everyday nursing situations. They will also be prepared for the TELC external exam by taking the Intensive Exam Preparation (IEP) course, ensuring that they’ll be ready to showcase their German language skills. Learning Objectives

At the end of the program, students are expected to:

  1. Identify grammar structures and patterns;
  2. Execute sounds and accents specific to the German language;
  3. Create their own sentences in a manner that’s spontaneous and coherent;
  4. Analyze german sentences and phrases used in everyday nursing work situations.

Learning Outcomes

At the end of the course, students will be able to:

  • Express themselves in job related and daily life needed Germany.
  • Have the required nursing related vocabulary to move on to the technical training that is required prior to starting their work in Germany.
  • Write reports, engage in discussions and present a job-related topic.
  • Describe pictures and express reported speeches.
  • Fill out and understand job-related forms like admission forms, biography forms and patient forms.
  • Explain medical and nursing procedures.
  • Reply to job-related questions and ask questions to others.

Instructors

Thomas Fleckner

A native German speaker, has received a number of qualifications, such as pedagogy which contributed to his professionalism and dedication. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts back in Germany and continued to develop and improve his skills by undergoing trainings in communication, web design skill development, etc. Thomas is a many-faceted expert who is eager to challenge himself in new fields. He has worked in language teaching, customer care, technical and web design, product training etc. Thomas moved to the Philippines 11 years ago and immediately fell in love with the country. At first he worked for Hinduja Global Solutions here and at the same conducted trainings in German, Dutch and English language. After his contract with the company was over, Thomas decided to fully devote himself to teaching. He has been working with Enderun for 3 years now and was able to display his exceptional knowledge and flexibility in teaching the German, Dutch, and English languages.

Gregory Bradshaw

Graduated from the University of the Philippines, Diliman with honors in European Languages. He also pursued his Master's degree there in the field of Communication. He spent two decades teaching at various international schools. He worked as an ESL teacher at the European International School (German School) as well as at the Manila Japanese School. He taught German at the International School Manila and the British School Manila. Since 2004 he has been an instructor and examiner at the Goethe-Institut Philippinen. He has also been an official translator of the German Embassy and as well as a speechwriter at the Embassy of Japan.

Cristina Espina

Graduated from Victoria University of Wellington in 2005 with a Bachelor’s degree in English Literature. She has taught English Literature or English as a Second/Foreign Language for seven years, first as a high school teacher in St. Paul College, Pasig and then as a corporate English trainer in goFLUENT Philippines. Her students have come from diverse countries and backgrounds, including the Philippines, South Korea, France, Spain, Germany, Austria, Italy, Japan, and Brazil. She started learning German in Goethe-Institut Manila in 2013 and passed the TELC B2 exam on her first try in 2017. Since then she has been teaching German to private and corporate students. Cristina joined Enderun this year and has received great feedback from her students and colleagues as a professional and passionate instructor.

Cecilia Avena

Born and raised in Austria. There she completed her Early Childhood, Basic and Secondary Education before she moved to the Philippines. In Manila, she graduated with a degree in Bachelor of Science in Physics with specialization in computer application.

Her professional work experience had largely been in the IT industry doing SAP system work across different local and german companies, such as Siemens, Ayala Corporation, Deutsche Bank, Coca-Cola. Aside from the technical aspect of her work, she had been translating documents from English to the German language and had been corresponding with German clients. She also provided End-User Trainings and conducted Knowledge Transfer Sessions to colleagues globally. Further related to teaching, she had been giving Physics Remedial Classes and basic German Language Tutorials in her earlier years.

She has always been drawn to learning and teaching, which is why at one point in her career life, she started to embark further studies in Education with a desire to impart and share her gained knowledge to others.

Is there an assessment before the course intake?
The Language Aptitude Test measures how well the test taker is able to acquire and learn a new language.
How long is the program duration?
There are 20 school days in a month. For 1:1 classes, the student may opt to customize his/her schedule based on their availability.
How many students are there in a class?
We accommodate a maximum of 12 students per class.
Mode of delivery: Will it be online learning or physical face-to-face classes?

What is Blended Learning Program?

Communication
All communication shall only be considered official when expressed and documented in writing.

Supervision of the Contract

Enderun Colleges is designating an education executive, as principal contact for this proposal. In return, he will work closely with the client’s officially designated representative or alternate(s). In case the above mentioned representatives’ valid absence or unavailability an official written communication shall be sent by either parties for their substitutes.

Course Details

The German partner and Enderun Colleges should agree upon any revision in the course outline at least 15 working days prior to the start date of the training.

The German partner and Enderun Colleges shall decide and agree upon the number of hours to be allotted per session and the number of sessions needed to be able to cover the entire course.

All reasonable efforts will be made to ensure that the training program follows the program duration. Enderun Colleges reserves the right to substitute instructors where events beyond its reasonable control prevent them from appearing. The German partner accepts that there will be no right to any refund or cancellation in these circumstances.

An orientation will be provided by The Study’s Academic Team at least 1 working day prior to the start date of the training. The team shall discuss classroom rules and procedures. Students must abide by the guidelines set to avoid disciplinary actions.

The team will be communicating all program concerns to either the agency or the German partner. Further actions or solutions must be documented in writing.

Class cancellations should be communicated to the Academic Team 4 – 24 hours before classes begin. Late comings are highly discouraged. If the client does not notify Enderun Colleges through text or send an email about a cancellation, it is assumed that the students will be attending the session and will then be considered consumed. Should any new cancellations or requests for classes from 7:00 AM – 10:00 AM be made, the student must notify Enderun Colleges by 9:00 PM the day before the class.

Should a student decide to take additional 1 on 1 classes or tutorials on top of his/her current program as recommended by his / her instructor, fees will have to apply depending on the new class setup. The tuition fee must be settled prior to its start date.

In case of any unforeseen circumstances such as but not limited to natural disasters, pandemic and inclement weather that would result in cancellation of physical classes, Enderun Colleges will arrange online face to face classes provided that the agency agreed with the online set up. The agency has the option to continue or opt to put the classes on hold.

Further requests or changes not mentioned above but would need additional manpower or resources will be subject to charges. Approval from the Academic Head and Director of Enderun Extension should be sought before changes are made.

The German partner must note that an additional fee will be charged for any changes in the program (5,000 PHP or 100 USD per program / per person).

The German partner and the agency has the option to enroll the B2 level passers to an Intensive Test Preparation after the A1 – B2 level program.
