Spanish Language Explorers Club

6% of the world’s population is Spanish-speaking, with around 41 million citizens in the US speaking Spanish as either their mother tongue or as a second language. Spanish also has a deep connection to Filipino, with words like pwede and syempre being direct derivations. This gives Filipino young learners a clear advantage, making it easier for them to create connections between meanings. Joining the Spanish Language Explorer Club can also be a lot of fun for students because of the Spanish emphasis on food as well as art and culture, from Paella to Picasso. Learning Objectives

At the end of the program, the students are expected to:

1. Recognize basic Spanish grammar and pronunciation;
2. Expand the After School Crew’s Spanish language vocabulary;
3. Foster bonds between fellow-learners, giving members an opportunity to practice speaking Spanish.
